Why is everyone so uptight because someone has a few at home?? I'll have a few beers after work (weekday).. Play some LFS, drink a few more since I'm having fun. Good times

I keep checking lfs.net for any news if they released the tire physic patch yet

I'm a big vw fan, but I can care less about the sirocco! Need the extra realism feel!

The "BRRRRR" is mainly the hard pressurized compound rubber of the tires. Also some of the "RRRRRR" would be vibration threw the suspension components.

I can see the GTR series cars making more noise threw the suspension. Mainly because they have stiffer bushings stiffer suspension and also other non OEM stuff added to correct the suspension geometry (if it's all using the same chassis setup).

Also they would have no sound dapening stuff, so you would actually hear more random debris being knocked up to the chassis of the vheicle. Although I think more road (tire) noise would drown this out, and once your going slower you would hear it less.. I was never of a big fan of that noise in GTR series games.

Quote from DragonCommando :The rumble through the FF is because the actual forces are transmitted from the wheels. So as the wheel bounces over the ripple strips, it actualy translates directly into wheel movement through the suspension/steering system of the vehicle.

There are no zones on the actual track, so its not like they could just say "ok, a tyre is here so it makes this noise, and triggers this FF effect" which is how most racing games actualy do it.

They would have to make it so that every bump and every suspension movement could potentialy make a noise. That would have to be based on forces and if the wheel actualy left the ground or not.

When it gets added, I would hope that it is done exactly like that, as it would be the most realistic way instead of just botching it and adding effects.

I hear where your coming from. I was playing a bit ago and noticed how the tire sequel was perfectly on from each bump on rumble strip.

Also only.one.RydeR's point seemed valid that's why I didn't think it would be that difficult of an edition. I'm sure the ruble strips are put in as it's own thing such as grass, gravel, sand, ect.

Which also made me think.. With "sport" tires we would have a bit more road noise as well on the cement.

I would think it would be the same as the motor sounds. I mean all we need is a speed sensitive noise judging by the percent of each tire on it gong at w/e rate of speed.

Just how great the tire modeling and physics are in this game. I would think it's that small details it's missing (tire road noise).

Still audio feedback is some of the most beneficial feedback you can have in a simulated racing game. They already have FF tiggered over the rumble sticks, I don't see why added volume at the same time would be overly difficult and time consuming.

I've noticed when I have my computer speakers hooked up with the subs that the wind noise is almost too much.

I think that they should make road noise when you run over them.

Just a sample video to see what I'm talking about.

1:50 on is when you will start hearing the rumble strips.. Don't have the volume too loud.. there is a angry Italian woman screaming

Thanks for the review. I always end up wanting to buy another advertised racing sim and just to find out there is something I dislike to the point where it is unbearable to play!

I've always seem a lot of hate towards console games on these boards. However I still think some have good feel and make for fun racing regardless (even though I dont have any console's besides a old xbox I dont use much anymore).

I use the same settings but on 900 on the profiler and in game. In game I use about 12-25 FF and the wheel turn compensation at about .80

Hope that helps

Quote from Racer556 :ok guys, sorry for bumping this old thread, but noticed something while trying to record a video.
On my old pc, LFS would run at about 40fps while recording with fraps. Now it sticks at 11fps, and no, it's not Fraps' config. cause I already checked that.

If you have full-scene antialiasing running it will kill your FPS majorlly when you record. Also if you have the Texture filtering it will also drop it, but the antialiasing will drop it the most (turn to "none" when recording).

GL with the original poster.. I recently upgraded (downgraded) to vista and there is one random game I used to play that freezes up every 15 seconds

What programs are better to use for recording purposes?

I would like to do more with video editing, I just wanted to make more of a action packed version of the first S2 teaser (same in dash type cam).

I could only see wanting to record a lan event instead of something over the internet for the laggy outcome reasons.

I guess I could always try out the virtual dub program again.

What are some better recording programs?? I tried Virtual Dub but didn't understand how to work it. I was wanting a on-board camera just because you couldn't see the rear bumper of the car in front of you at times.

I don't care for how choppy the replays are when it was saved on multiplayer. I was looking for smooth movements and close racing that you can't match with most other games.

Figured it out, I just needed to enable the drawings of the custom view that normally just shows the tires.

Sorry, please delete mods. Unless you think this may help others.

I know Shift+U enables the view editor but I've never been able to keep it from not moving inside the vehicle (like in the video) and stay in a fixed position as the car turns.

I'll post a example in a little while if it helps understanding what I am trying to explain more easier.

I've searched threw 400+ threads and can't find this one particular thread. Someone photo shopped the LFS interior into a screen shot of Colin Mcrae Dirt for a "teaser" picture.

If anyone happens to have this link or can track it down it would be much appreciated

I used a mouse for 4 years, I liked my mouse setup..

I used my scroll up for downshift and scroll down for upshift. I also used "C" for clutch (I used no clutch help).

If you mess around with the "center steer reduction" (I think I had mine set around 77ish) It should give you a better feel for the steering.

Also in view options I liked "move view with animation". There also is another option that turns the view while your turning so it was "move view with the X axis"

I'm just going off of memory from some settings I liked to personalize LFS to my likings that I've found over the years.

I didn't care much for Rfactor at all.. It had better wheel support then most games but it felt very stale. I preferred the GTR series @ 360 degree wheel movement over Rfactor (although I like the ability to mod the game and users can add content).

I downloaded some new tire squealing noises and put them on LFS, best mod I've ever one
